Having perfect eyesight is a blessing indeed, but a 6/6 vision blesses not everyone. Some of us had to go on with our everyday struggles with our spectacles, like where was the last time we left them, getting our spectacles scratched or fogging our glasses, and many more, which can be frustrating sometimes. These situations sometimes lead us to think if there is any way of removing spectacles. Yes, there is. So here are some of the methods which can help us get rid of our spectacles:

  1. Doing specific eye exercises also helps sometimes as they can be very beneficial for our eyes. They strengthen the eye muscles and improve blood circulation and muscle tone, which allows us to achieve sharp vision. Some of the accessible eye exercises can be:
  1. Blinking our eyes multiple times after taking a break from our screens to relax them.
  2. Placing the palm on the eyes and finger on the forehead and blinking repeatedly and making sure the eyes are relaxed, not stressed.
  3. Eye rolling is also considered one exercise that contributes to strengthening eye muscles. We can do this exercise by just rolling our eyes while looking in the upward direction for 10 minutes in both clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.
  4. After a long day working on the screens, place a warm palm on the eyelids to help them with the screen strain.

  1. Having a poor diet also leads to bad eye health. So by including healthy foods in our diet, we can contribute to good eye health.
  1. We should add fish like tuna, salmon, and trout to our diet as they are rich in omega-3 and fish oil which can help reverse dry eyes.
  2. Nuts like walnuts, peanuts, and cashew are also rich in omega-3 and vitamin E and are suitable for eye health.
  3. Citrus fruits such as lemons and oranges are rich in Vitamin E and Vitamin C and are also good antioxidants.
  4. Leafy green vegetables like spinach, kale, and collards are also good sources of lutein and zeaxanthin.
  5. When included in the diet, other foods like carrots, sweet potatoes, and eggs ensure the proper nutrients for eye health.

  1. Specific home remedies also help, like:
  1. Having a walk in the morning barefoot on the grass.
  2. Washing eyes with amla water twice a day.
  3. Use good quality rose water for the eyes. You can use rose water as an eye drop regularly twice a day.

The above-suggested ways are proven to be wonders for eye health in the long run, but the question still stands: how to remove spectacles in a week? And the answer is medical science. Medical Science is always there to help us. The above methods are helpful in eye health but cannot remove spectacles in a week, which can only be achieved through a medical procedure that sounds scary but isn’t. It’s safe and painless. Many people go for surgery as a permanent solution. There is a significant amount of advancement in the field of eye surgery procedures which has encouraged so many people to opt for surgeries. The various surgical techniques available can help people get rid of their glasses in a week or less. There are so many advanced technologies that can help us with our eyesight like:

  1.  PRK(Photorefractive Keratectomy), in which a laser is used to change the shape of a cornea for vision correction.
  2. ICT(Implantable Contact Lens), in which lenses made of Collamer, a biocompatible material, are implanted in the eyes between the iris and the person’s natural lens.
  3. RLE(Refractive Lens Exchange) is when an artificial lens is implanted inside the eye, thus removing the natural lens.
  4. ReLEx SMILE(Refractive Lenticule Extraction, Small Incision Lenticule Extraction), in which a femtosecond laser is used for carving out small lenticulars in the cornea.
  5. LASIK(Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is the best and most commonly performed surgery. It is a laser refractive surgery to correct vision problems, including myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. In LASIK, a special cutting laser is used to precisely change the clear dome-shaped tissue in the front of your eye to improve vision. In eyes with normal vision, the cornea refracts (bends) light precisely onto the retina at the back of the eye. But with nearsightedness(myopia) or astigmatism, the light is bent incorrectly, resulting in blurred vision. Using glasses or contact lenses helps correct the vision, but reshaping the cornea will provide the necessary refraction.LASIK surgery is used for the following vision problems:
  1. Nearsightedness(myopia) – When the cornea curves too sharply or the eyeball is slightly longer than average. In this case, light rays focus in front of the retina and blur the distant vision. Due to this, we can see objects that are close fairly clearly but not those that are far away.
  2. Farsightedness(hyperopia) – When the cornea is too flat or the eyeball is shorter than average. In this case, the light focuses behind the retina instead of it. Due to this, the near vision and sometimes the distant vision becomes blurry.
  3. Astigmatism – In this scenario, the cornea curves or flattens unevenly, resulting in astigmatism. This disrupts the focus of near and distant vision.

Most people who go for LASIK probably already use glasses or contact lenses. People, in general, fear the term surgery, but in the modern world, it’s totally safe and not painful; you just need to make specific arrangements before going to surgery, like knowing the cost and being prepared for it, arranging a ride home making sure you have someone beside you to take home from the place of surgery as you will still feel the effects of medicine after the surgery. The procedure is completed in 30 mins or less. LASIK offers improved vision without the struggles of glasses or contact lenses. Out of 10, 8 people who have undergone LASIK surgery do not need glasses anymore. LASIK is most commonly for people with no unusual vision problems or a moderate degree of refractive error.
